Ever Had a Frustrated Customer?
Probably? Definitely? Let me tell you about one of mine.
This gentleman brought in a large RV, complete with factory vinyl stripes and decals. They were still in good shape, and he wanted them left on the vehicle—just in case he ever wanted to remove the wrap and go back to the original look.
We advised against it. While the color of the original vinyl wouldn’t show through the new wrap, the texture absolutely would. Raised edges and outlines beneath the surface always show, no matter how perfect your vinyl installation is.
But our customer was adamant—do not remove the decals.
So we went ahead with the job.
Now picture this: the man was older, wore jeans and a plaid shirt, had a big cowboy hat and a mustache straight out of a western.
He came into the shop to inspect the finished wrap. And just as we warned, the old vinyl was clearly visible underneath—creating outlines and raised textures through the new film.
He took off his cowboy hat and threw it on the floor.
As in a cartoon, you could practically see smoke coming out of his ears. All the blood in his body rushed to his face as he stared at the wrap in silence.
You could tell he was trying to calm himself down. Deep down, he knew it was his call—but he was clearly searching for a way to make it right without admitting fault.
Finally, he asked:
“Would you give me a discount for you to wrap it again?”
Sold.

Moral of the story? Trust your wrap shop. Texture always wins. 😉
